So you’ve decided to take a hiatus from the booze but still looking to kick back with a cool libation? The Blackberry Ginger Mock-tail
Why Mock-tails?
When it comes to nutrition alcohol is kind of a sticky subject. Although alcohol consumed in small quantities has show to exhibit some protective effects on heart health, overconsumption of alcohol can lead to a bunch of short and long term health issues.
Alcohol breakdown produces a toxin, called acetaldehyde, which can scar liver tissue, damage the pancreas and brain cells. Frequently drinking alcohol increases risk for developing cancers especially- head, neck, breast and gastrointestinal cancers.
Taking a hold of our health means limiting or avoiding alcohol for better digestion, improved sleep and overall well-being. But if you slow down on the booze, what will fill the empty space of our after workout cocktail ritual?…
One Solution:
Mock-tails. If you are new to the concept. Mock-tails are a way to revel in a beverage sans the alcohol. A delicious filler for you hand when you are passing on the beer, wine and liquor.
A word about Mocktails…
Mock-tails can be pumped with added sugars from fruit, juice, soda or simple syrup, which equates to excess calories promoting weight gain and inflammation. Instead lighten up your mock-tail by replacing added sugars with antioxidants and digestive aids, so you can happily SIP ON.
The Blackberry Ginger Mocktail
The goal was to create a mock-tail that:
1) tastes amazing
2) provides our body with nourishment and anti-inflammatory compounds
3) looks super fun
Think the Blackberry Ginger Mocktail nailed it. It is refreshing to sip on while hanging in with friends, relaxing after work, post-workout or for any social gathering really.
